Patty Upton & Connie Rodman to compete in the 2025 Rebelle Rally
Patty Upton and Connie Rodman have teamed up with American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) to compete in the 2025 Rebelle Rally in AEV’s bespoke 2023 JL370 Wrangler Rubicon, Sand Ship Discovery II.
Patty, a Guinness World Record holder for crossing the Darién Gap and circumnavigator of the globe in a 1966 CJ-5 Jeep named Sand Ship Discovery will serve as navigator in the eight-day competition. Connie, NPTC certified off-road driver known for her iconic London to Cape Town overland adventure with north to south transverse of Africa, will drive the 1,500 miles of off-road desert terrain. What is the Rebelle Rally
The Rebelle Rally is the longest, competitive, off-road rally in the U.S., spanning 8 days and 1,500 miles in the back country terrain of the California and Nevada desert. As a navigation and driving competition, no GPS, cell phones, or electronic navigation of any kind can be used. Teams use a compass and waypoints which must be plotted using paper maps and road books provided at the beginning of each day to hit navigational checkpoints along the way. It is a test of skill and teamwork… and it happens to be open only to women.
Patterned after the iconic Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Moroc, the Rebelle Rally consists of a combination of base camps and two-day rally stages. 65 teams compete over eight days to earn points for each stage. Vehicles are equipped with locators, which can be followed by team officials and fans at home; meaning that the rest of the world knows exactly where Patty and Connie are, even if they aren’t completely sure themselves.
